The story of stuff
The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. All the stuff in our lives, beginning from the extraction of the resources to make it, through its production, sale, use and disposal, affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view.

The experience is the product
In 1888, an inventor named George Eastman designed, manufactured, and marketed a camera that changed not only photography, but consumer products — forever. Had Eastman taken a typical engineering approach to designing a camera that used roll film, he would have copied the typical camera of the time, just on a smaller scale, providing an incremental improvement on his predecessors. Instead, he focused on the experience he wanted to deliver, captured in his advertising slogan, "You press the button, we do the rest." See the story of The Experience Is The Product on slideshare. In this presentation Peter does a great job of explaining that the experience is everything, it's the branding, it's the marketing, and how often our approaches to design screw this up.

I love my friends but...
"I saw real value in having lots of friends on online services. Keep in mind that 'friends' online aren't quite like 'friends' offline. First of all, they don't take you to dinner on a Friday night like Rocky did. Second of all, you might never have met them face-to-face. But let's leave that argument out of it for this post, OK?"
